FAQs
How do I use BRBN Water?
Add 5-10 drops to your whiskey or spirit of choice, swirl the glass, then briefly let it sit. Repeat as necessary to desired taste.
Why should I add water to my whiskey?
The science is clear: adding water to whiskey allows us to better appreciate its flavors. Ethanol molecules cluster around the molecules that we perceive taste from in whiskey. Water disrupts these ethanol molecules, allowing aromas and flavors to be released, and a better tasting experience.
How is BRBN water different from other mixing waters?
We source our water from an artesian limestone spring in Texas. It’s rich in essential minerals like calcium, historically crucial in bourbon-making for enhancing flavor and aging, while free of harmful elements like iron, which distorts the whiskey’s character. We then add naturally occurring minerals that are scientifically proven to enhance taste perception.
Unlike other popular mixing waters for whiskey, which go through reverse osmosis and lose crucial minerals, BRBN Water retains these important minerals. These minerals are key to taste perception and essential to the "bourbon and branch" theory of whiskey tasting.
Don’t waste your money on a mixing water that has simply undergone reverse osmosis, making it no different from standard bottled water. Instead, choose BRBN Water, sourced from a historic limestone aquifer in Texas and enriched with additional natural minerals to preserve and enhance the flavor of your whiskey.
Why is glass bottling superior to plastic?
Glass bottling is superior to plastic for several reasons. First, glass is non-reactive, meaning it won't leach chemicals or alter the taste of the water, ensuring that the natural flavors and minerals remain pure. Glass is also BPA-free and safer for long-term storage, whereas plastic bottles may release harmful chemicals over time. Additionally, glass is environmentally friendly as it is 100% recyclable and can be reused without degrading in quality, reducing waste and minimizing the impact on our planet. For premium water like BRBN, glass bottling is the clear choice to preserve quality and flavor.
While glass costs nearly 10 times as much to use, it was the logical choice to bring the highest quality to our connoisseurs.Â
Why Dram Doctor?
The term "Dram" originates from ancient Greece, where it referred to a coin or treasure. Over time, it evolved into a unit of weight for medicine and eventually a measure of liquid. As whiskey became popular in Scotland, the term "Dram of Whiskey" was born, and today, it refers to a small portion of alcohol. We chose "Doctor" because we aim to "doctor up" your dram or cocktail with pure limestone water, enhancing the flavors of your favorite spirit.
